    Drawing opposite side sections.

    Hi Guys,

I am a brand new user, we completed the training a little while ago and we are trying to set up the library and drawing standards and everything that goes along with MV.

Previously we liked to draw our sections looking from left to right.  MV seems to draw them only one way and of course it's the opposite direction.  Is there a way to change the way the sections are drawn?

    Thanks,

Hello Michael and welcome aboard! Unfortunately, you can't currently change the direction of the section view. I have heard rumblings indicating a possible change in the upcoming version, but nothing concrete. So, for now, you'll have to either mirror the section or learn to live with it being backwards from your standards.

Currently, there is no way to change the Direction of View for the Sections, you can still use the 3dClip command in Autocad to get the results that you want. Simply in a Viewport, Switch to the View that you want to "Cut" your Section, type 3dClip, in the new dialog box that opens up, turn your Clipping Planes on, move the Front and Back Clipping Planes into the desired area of "Cut", close out of the Dialog Box, right click, select "Exit", and the view in your Viewport will show your Section.

    Hope this helps.

3dclip is a good command for doing this but I have found that the "sectionplane" command works even better.  Try it out and see what you think.

I agree.  I'm used to having the sections the opposite way.

I think I'm going just to have to get used to it.  I guess I could draw the section "using drawing tokens only" and add my own tokens to draw the product section.  But it's just easier to use what is provided.
