    save

We use AutoCAD 2008 and Microvellum.  Yesterday I was working on the speadsheet of Microvellum.  I made 35 cabinets at 5:30pm and save the AutoCAD 2008 file and closed.  Only 6 of the cabinets that I created earlier in the day were saved but I lost the rest of almost 30 cabinets.  Do I need to press the save before I close the speadsheet on the Microvellm in order to save them?  I thought it would save automatillaly if I save the Autocad file.  Could you please let me know why my cabinets were not saved.  Thank you.  Miki Honda Amberwood products, Inc

    Re: save

Your additonal products are saved automatically, are you sure you werent accidentally in the wrong job (seen in the mv toolbar while in autocad) when you made some of those products? Is it possible they now exist somewhere else?

I have never lost products by closing autocad without going into overdrive pro and saving.......

Your post indicates that after you  closed autocad, you continued to work in overdrive pro?

I don't know what version you are running but this isn't possible because overdrive pro closes with autocad. The only way to keep overdrive pro open is to open it by it's self after autocad closed. I'm a little confused on exaclty what order you did these things, can you please clarify so that I can better understand?

If you were in the Spreadsheet, if you open the job in the spreadsheet, your products are probably there. If you place products in the Spreadsheet, they do not Automaticaly get added to the Drawing in Acad. You have to Right Click on Each Product, 1 at a time, Select Draw Products, and pick the appropriate condition.

    Re: save

    Thank you for your reponse.

I could not find the products anywhere else.

After I closed my AutoCAD, I did not work in overdrive pro.  Right after I finished working in my overdrive pro without saving, I went back to AutoCAD and saved AutoCAD drawing and closed.  I assumed my overdrive pro is automatically saved with the AutoCAD.  Is that correct?  My AutoCAD file was saved correctly but I lost my products that I created in Microvellum.

We are using Microvellum version 6.7.1110.

Do I need to click the save button at top of the speadsheet if I close it immediately after I create the products?  Or that should not be the problem.

    Thank you.

    Re: save

Thank you.  The problem was that my products were not in the spead sheet after I closed the AutoCAD file.  I did not draw the products in the AutoCAD so I understand that they were not in the AutoCAD drawing.

    Re: save

Unfortunatley this complicates things.....it doesn't really make sense. Products are automatically saved when you bring them in via the spreadsheet interface. When you close autocad and the spreadsheet closes with it, all spreadsheet changes are remembered.

In your case there is a step involved that we arent seeing that made your products disappear, or some strange glitch. I think the first thing to do, is see if you can reproduce the same results. Open autocad, go to the spreadsheet interface, drop a couple cabinets in (do not save), and then shut down autocad. Re open autocad, go back to the spreadsheet again, see if your products are there. If they are not, you need to call tech support immediatley. If they are, then that means there had to have been something else that happened that only you could remember. (I know this isn't comforting, but it's the only thing I can think of that adds up).  Regardless, you need to be able to use the software and rely on the fact that your products will be saved. Actually for your security, you should probably contact tech support any way. Toll Free: (800) 204-0913
