How do others use ALIS or other shipping software?

I'm wondering how people around here use ALIS?
Any tips and tricks that make packing and shipping lists easier?
Is there any way to check what was scanned 2 weeks ago and check what date it was scanned?
Why can't multiple releases be scanned in 1 shipping report?
How can extra items be added to the shipping list without scanning a sticker?
If its not ALIS that people are using, I'm very open to other suggestions that would work with the microvellum product stickers.

    Thanks,

I think ALIS is Microvellum's "red-headed step child".  We partially purchased MV because of ALIS.  Come to find out it doesn;t seem like MV ever plans to improve ALIS.

I've posted a couple of questions asking what the plans for Alis are since everything else is getting a major upgrade. But for whatever reason MV will not respond and why they won’t respond just baffles me. When you have a job that requires perfect graining and you are using Alis for your part labels stuff goes south in a hurry. Alis cannot handle 4th phase cuts, this is a problem.

We have the same problem. But, I just created a label that can be printed from Ardis with the rest of the optimization reports and then taken out to the saws.

Re: How do others use ALIS or other shipping software?

    Sorry to revive this tread,

So, I've stopped waiting for Microvellum and a new version of Alis. I'm currently into a project of mine to create a custom shipping/backorder workbook in excel that uses extracted data from the job .mdb file.

    - 1 spreadsheet will have all the products for the job listed with multiple columns showing if it got scanned, shipped, or is on backorder and the biggest feature yet...  A date stamp showing when it got scanned.  So from a quick look of this main spreadsheet, one can track a complete job very easily.

    -  another spreadsheet is getting setup to create shipping reports.  This is where the shipper scans its products in and it will return some product details and again it will stamp the date scanned.

    - I am not restricting the shipping reports to only scan products from 1 release at a time.  the shipping reports spreadsheet will scan any product that is ready for shipment.

    -  There will be formulas tied in so the shipper can only scan the same product the amount of times listed in the qty. column in the .mdb file.  Otherwise a warning will appear.

When I get a tried and tested complete workbook done, I'll try to post it in the downloads forum for others to benefit from.
