    Ellipse and Tool paths

    OK Gang

I have read the book on this one, but it just is not working for me.

I have a large series of Ellipse tops to make, and all vary in size.

Per the book, I have set my PLINETYPE to "0", and PELLIPSE to "0".

But I am still unable to select the Ellipse ( drawn using the Ellipse command ) to assign a tool to it.

Does anyone have ony thoughts, or solutions?

    Thanks

    Michael

    Re: Ellipse and Tool paths

Draw the ellipse larger than you need, then offset it to the correct size, the offset line will be a polyline.  Also, check your properties of the "ellpse' you created after setting the pellipse to make sure that it's creating a polyline and not an ellipse.  FYI, I just checked the pellipse, and you need it set to 1, not 0.  good luck.

Use the "Draw" menu drop down in ACAD. Select Ellipse and use the Arc option. The generated code needs to be an arc in order for dxf information to be transferred to your machine.

PELLIPSE in ACAD needs to be set to 1 not 0.  This will draw your ellipse with polyline segments instead of a single polyline.

I don't believe the pellipse command is retroactive, so you will need to redraw your ellipses after changing this setting.

    Re: Ellipse and Tool paths

    Thanks Guys

Changing the PELLIPSE to 1 did correct the problem......

Note to the Microvellum Tech writers..... The manual is wrong, I went back and checked it. ( page 209 of the users manual )

     Thanks Everyone again
