Cabinetvision Cabinet Assembly reports, need to make something similar

My company has posed quite a challenge to me.  I need to make something similar to the cabinet assy reports from CV, which at the touch of a button prints out "A" size drawing of each individual cabinet (1 dimensioned elevation) with full cutlist for that cabinet.

This is something that MUST be automated.

    any Ideas?

Have you tried the Product Detail Report?

Re: Cabinetvision Cabinet Assembly reports, need to make something similar

This is currently a goal of mine as well but I am still in the process of learning Crystal Reports so I haven't made much progress.  The product detail report has most everything that you need already but is not well organised and takes too many pages.  The hardest part would be automating the drawing of a dimensioned picture for the report.  It seems that there should be a way to do this but for now I am using "Draw selected as 3D with machining" and the MV product detail tools to make a meta-file of the product.  This way the product report and labels have an actual picture of the product not a generic one.  If MV would create a tool to make and dimension the pictures the rest would be fairly easy...

Reports are the only thing that I miss from CV.  Granted, you can't customize their product detail report and I would have changes somethings on it but overall I have found the quality and variety of reports from MV to be a little disapointing :(

Yup, data wise, that's what i need, but I also need a dimensioned Drawing.  or at least a dimensioned FF.

To be Fair to MV, Andrew from Tech has helped me out a ton over the last two days with the MV generated reports.  We're not quite there, but we're alot closer then we were (for all reports except this one)

I'm not a CV user, but this Company has gotten very accustomed to these Assy sheets.  They need something to replace it, and I need to not spend tons of time doing it.  Essentially the informations all there, between the reports and the "D" size drawings i print for dual use (shop and submittals)  But, i really don't want to spend time drawing everything on D sheets and A sheets......seems pointless.  (and I need to print the "D" sized sheets to satisfy the higher ups)

V67 does have a face frame report with dimensioned face frame pictures.  You might check that out as well...

Those pictures are exactly what i need.  however for some reason the Face Frame report I have doesn't show those pictures!   are they working for everyone else?  I would need to make a copy of this report and add other information to it.  But i need it to work first!

You need to make sure that your panel optimizer is set to "none" for the pictures to be created when reports are processed (I am not sure why).  Then, when you process reports, a folder called "face frame pictures" will be created inside the job folder and populated with the pictures.

Here is another thread on the subject you might find helpful:

I think that I might have misunderstood your problem when I last replied...  If the pictures are being created but not displayed, you might need to change which version of Crystal Reports you are using in your options.

I'm not using crystal reports, i'm using the reports generated from MV.     I got them from tech support, but now I noticed they are in the new FF library download.

I am not familiar with those... maybe Lenny or someone else who has experience with the MV reports could offer some help here...

Yes, the reports generated from MV are now included in the FF library build 10. The Face Frame Report.mrt was having some problems displaying the wmf image of the face frame. This was addressed in program update 67.103.18.
